Public Homelab Notes

Before You Read My Homelab Notes

These are public versions of the notes I keep while building, changing, and troubleshooting my homelab. I leave out a few details that aren't useful to anyone reading the project and that I'd rather keep private.

The goal isn't to hide how the homelab works. I still want to show what I built, how the pieces connect, what went wrong, and how I fixed things.

What I Leave Out

  • Network addresses and private connection details.
  • Login information, keys, tokens, and other credentials.
  • Private or admin-only service addresses.
  • Personal usernames and machine-specific filesystem paths.
  • Device identifiers that don't add anything useful for a public reader.
  • Individual ARR applications — I refer to them collectively as ARR Stack.

What I Still Show

  • The hardware I use and what each device does.
  • How the homelab is laid out and how the main pieces connect.
  • Proxmox and VM layouts.
  • Docker and self-hosted services.
  • Networking concepts and tools I use.
  • Problems I've run into, plus troubleshooting and recovery steps.
  • Projects I'm working on now and things I plan to build later.

Why I Do This

I want these notes to be useful and detailed without publishing information that doesn't need to be public. They're still my real homelab notes — just cleaned up a little before I put them on the website.
